atleast you realize Claude Julien wouldnt play a russian in his top 6
no real need for him at this point with Suzuki here and kicking the door down .
Like his friend and fellow former London Knight Mitch Marner
Suzuki will like Marner jump straight to the NHL as a Winger after his own 40+ point memorial cup run .
we're all forgetting how close he was to starting last year , had Kotkanemi went back to Liiga then Suzuki woulda started for sure.(Suzuki and Brook were the last cuts of last years camp)

Gusev only evey thrives on all star teams , we're not a fit .
he had 2/3 last KHL UFA's to bust in the NHL as line mate's in Shipachyov and Kovalchuk
he only every thrives when there are 2-3 big name playes for him to work with
its why he signed less then 90 days before he was to become a UFA capable of playing anywhere in the NHL.
Gusev like Shipachyov will be forgotten about in 2-3 years time

With the prospect pool that we have I'd still give a shot at it doe. Giving -one of- our second rounder this or next year and an expandable forward for a guy that may or may not explode I think it's worth the risk. Try him on a two year deal and see what he gives you. Radulov thrived in Montreal so ...

He being a sniper you can imagine how much he could work his magic with a great passer that KK is becoming!

As much as I like your rational, Hudon and a 2nd doesn't get it done. Vegas wants teams to pay more for potential upside, Gusev will probably play in Europe this season unless he's traded to EDM for Puls.

i get some people dont know Gusev s a poor mans Radulov who only became a star in the KHL in Radulov absence and not a second before. he's not a secret weapon its why VGK are so willing to move his rights . its also why Gusev was so desperate that 90 days before going UFA he signs with VGK so they own his rights for the next 4-5 years.

the only team who would pay for a gamble like Gusev is NYR because they have the biggest upside with Panarin -Gusev chemistry internationally .
i say easily our 2nd has more value then Gusev by a country mile , this is no Panarin type player coming over after out playing Radulov and Kovalchuck in their prime's this is another Nischuskin people will pretend is a superstar

it is the way we've drafted since hiring Eric Crawford who stocked VAN depth pool with the Boeser and friends
MTL in the past 3 years has drafted Struble , Ylonen ,Romanov , Olofsson , ikonen and Brook in the 2nd round alone aka 90% of our current depth with 6/6 ahead of projected development. its why MB went from being known as the guy who included a 2nd in every trade MTL offered to someone who acquires them for the draft.

from 2014-2016 we were stupid and traded away our 2nd picks for players like Shaw and Petry's player rights

i watch the KHL and Gusev isnt an NHL player , he's the guy who filled the void Radulov left nothing more . When Radulov was in the KHL Gusev was a joke no one every really got and now the jokes about to be on the whole NHL . players with talent like Radulov wait until they are UFA to come over where as Gusev guarantee's VGK retain his rights if he signed 90 days before going UFA to a contract way less then an untested NCAA LD got from the same team . (of which only 1/2 was used and it wasnt the russian )

Gusev's all hype
even Gusev knew not to invest in Gusev
its why he's not UFA right now

I'd say the second rounder on Petry was a damn great investment whoever that turned out to be (Jonas Siegenthaler). Wasn't the deepest draft I'd say.

On the other hand I get your POV and neither I'd do that trade BUT I wouldn't be pissed off neither, it'd go down as a "Meh" trade for me.
