Jackets would probably rather move Clarkson, I'm sure, and I'd do that and take the 29th off of the table (or offer up the 29th and a player instead of 14). My hope then is that the B's use the 3rd OA to get a bonafide top pair D.

There are no top pair D in this draft. They all need more seasoning and your not getting #3 for taking Clarksson unless you offer Pastrnak+. All they need to do is move one guy and they can sign Jones.

I was thinking more about flipping 3 as part of a package for an established guy (Trouba?). As for Clarkson, he has one of the five worst contracts in the game. I think that the 14th and maybe NYI 2nd and one of their draft D's from last year would get them thinking. Columbus is in the worst shape cap wise of just about anyone (PIT and CHI are tighter to the cap but they have top level talent on their rosters). Not to mention they're struggling with real$. The chance to unload that contract and only have to move back ten spots might get ownership on the phone.

Maybe in a normal year. There are 3 BIG TICKETS this draft. There is zero chance they pass one up for offloading a contract + #14. If you offer Pastrnak and #14 I'm sure they'd listen, but that would be bad for us.
