Additional Details:
Lightning have lots of guys tied up long term at big money, expecially now with the Vasy signing. Brodie saves them a few hundred k on Johnson and with the only on year commitment they aren't tied down to him. Their top 6 could be
Hedman-Cernak
Mcdonagh-Brodie
Sergachev-Coburn

Johnson waives his NTC to come play for his junior coach in Peters, he also won a memorial cup with him as well as Derek Ryan. Calgary is also essentially the closest market to his hometown of Spokane, so very possible he waives.

I cannot see Johnson waiving, not even to play for an old coach. Going from no state income taxes to the heavy Canadian income taxes seems to be a bad move financially.

I like the Schaller for Stone trade, but it seems the Isles are just doing the Flames a favor on the Frolik trade. Maybe trading him to a team that needs more wingers (like the Flyers) and another prospect for a fourth or fifth would work? Flames do not have that much leverage with their current cap situation.

I think Tkachuk's term is off. He could be an UFA in 4 years, so if I am him I either want a max 8 year deal (which I think would be 8 million), or a 4 year deal at a lesser rate (maybe in the 7-7.5 range). Just my thoughts.
