I think right now the only comparable in terms of production is Aho, but you have to keep in mind that he's a centre, was the leading scorer on his team, got more points in the reg season than tkachuk and was a horse for them in their post season run as well. Aho came in at 8.275 for 5 yrs, considering all that, if Tkachuk wanted the same 5 yr team, you could make the argument that somewhere between 7.5-8 would make a lot of sense given that comparable.

I agree with the Mangiapane deal, likely 2 x 925k.

Tkachuk is a tough one, as we are too cap strapped to give him a long term deal, plus his comments about Mathews' contract make it seem like he'd consider 5 years a max term. I think the Flames would be looking at a cap hit % similar to Gaudreau & Monahan for the next few years for him (9%) so 7.335M x 3 would be my guess. I don't hate the idea of having Gaudreau, Gio, and Tkachuk's deals expire in the same year as it really gives the team options. However, it is also a big risk giving Tkachuk a 3 year deal as he could file for arbitration and go straight to UFA on a one year extension.
