Description
Something similar to this is the only way the Wild trade Dumba. They're not trading him for scraps, wingers they don't have a talented enough center to play with, or including him with other players in a package. A young center they can build around for years to come is the only way they trade him.

Trade probably doesn't equal "fair" value, but that is almost never how trades work anyhow. They also desperately need to extend Spurgeon if they trade him.

Well said. He's a future Norris candidate, you don't give a guy like that up for scraps. And if we really do trade him (which I don't think will happen), I'd go even further and say we better be getting a player that perfectly addresses our needs. Having a young 1C is a start to that, but ideally they are a right shot since Kunin is the only one we have in the top 9. Point in particular fits that bill.

Big ask for an injury prone dman who isn't even number 1 on his own team ...both spurgeon n suter play more ...ain't happening ...a 50 goal guy with an awesome contract gets more than that ...see all the laine trades on here and he's a 30 goal guy

Suter is a LHD, so what he plays isn't relevant to Dumba. Spurgeon playing more isn't a slight on Dumba, Spurgeon is just an all around better defenseman. Don't get the "injury prone" comment, but sure. He wouldn't be traded cheap, I never said the price was fair. I said that's what they're going to want, which isn't really important because they're just not going to trade him for the next 3 years at least. Maybe they trade him when he's due for an extension if he's asking too much.

Edit: Most of the Laine trades on here are stupid, so not sure what you mean by look at what people are saying for him. They're knee-jerk reaction trades to an RFA trying to get what he feels he's worth and people act like this is something weird. Same deal with Marner.
