schenn makes a ton of sense for the rangers, but that return is not particularly useful for the blues. schenn can already play LW and namestnikov would join a massive logjam for the bottom 6. this trade comes out looking late-20s rental for late-20s rental and there isn't enough value on the table to think st louis wants that.

i think it's far more likely that st louis keeps schenn and lets him walk in UFA--at that point NY seems like a good fit for player and team.

Maybe if a Kreider extension is in place this makes sense for the blues but otherwise its a 1st and young player/prospects they would want.
