Description
So obviously I need to give some context for this.
To start, Miro is a beast. He is going to be one of the best defenseman in the league for a VERY long time and I expect AT LEAST one Norris in the future.
But with that being said, this post https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/269492&post_id=1079870 is ridiculous.
The guy is being compared to players who have been ELITE for 5+ years and some people are saying he's already better than Giordano and Reilly.
Maybe 3 years down the line he is better than every guy on that list but I take every guy on that list over Miro for this next year
His potential isnt overrated but how good he really is now is
Obviously its just a few people but still thought it would be a post worth making

There’s like 2 people at most saying he’s better than those guys. The only thing over here is your reaction.

There's a bunch of factors when getting into this type of thing. If your just looking a talent vs talent, its completely subjective. Some people value guys who are analytical beasts more than others who trust their "eye test" ability for example. That's just the way it is. No right or wrong answer really. Unless its blatantly wrong like "Dale Weise is a top line winger...".

If its taking contracts into consideration, A guy making 10M whose a superstar vs a guy who is on an ELC and is already showing signs of being a budding superstar may be equal in value in that sense. If you get what I mean? How cheap a players contract is can make up for that players difference vs the other player.

There's also the thing about what makes a player better than another? Is it simply points or P/60 or Corsi, etc etc. Its not perfect science so as long as both players are clearly in the same echelon, there is no wrong answer there too.

The problem on this site is people like to put the carriage before the horse. Its no disrespect to Heiskanen. He has to earn it and he simply hasn't earned it yet. (Not by his own doing, he literally hasn't played enough to earn it yet) Once he does he could potentially then be considered "better" than those players in a certain perspective but could be considered already better in another perspective. It really all depends on the parameters and how serious you want to take an arbitrary discussion about 1 player being better than the other. In all seriousness, who cares? It doesn't change anything what one person perceives is a better player than another.

He's still growing but he hasn't yet. People need to pump the brakes a bit

If you think he’s overrated what are your thoughts on Austin Matthews? He’s being compared to Mc David ? Most defensemen don’t play at the age of 18-19. He’s logging top pairing minutes and looks like a 5 year vet. I’d say he’s under appreciated and if you are talking about how rare it is for an 18-19 year old to be a top 2 guy. Besides the kid in buffalo name another 18-19 year old to play top pairing or at all.
