Description

Brodziak will be placed on LTIR as soon as the season opens, but in order to get maximum relief I think Holland should sign Burdasov for the amount listed below and arrange the roster as below. Once the season opens he can place Brodziak on LTIR and get full relief of his $1.15M cap hit, then rearrange the roster as required for game one. My guess is that Burdasov, Haas and Marody get replaced with Jurco, Bear and Cave which, in conjunction with the LTIR relief, give the Oilers $1.93M in cap space from game one.

Sad isn't it, a non playoff team right at the cap and without expensive contracts expiring next summer. More same in 2020/21.

Um, no, it's not. I manipulated the roster to get to the cap limit, as the roster looks to be shaping up there will be about $2M of cap space to start the season.

Also, there's only $58M committed to contracts next season and a bunch of young guys coming up.

Only 58m next year? That's for just 10 players. That leaves 25m for 13 players, including some RFAs... Not good at all. Yea, I know the Oilers are OK for cap, but for their on ice value...not good value.

All these guys are on ELC's, meaning that they'll make under $1M each. Chiarelli left the team in a bad way but there will be cap space to add talent next year - and probably another few high draft picks to the 9th best farm system in the league.
