If there's going to be anything the Caps will address at the deadline, it'll probably be for a 2RD. Jensen has been practicing on the third pair, and if there's flux there, the Caps will need to acquire someone who can fit on that second pairing going forward.

Signing Boyle for depth and faceoffs is fine, at 700 or so, but if the whole team is healthy, you have to waive someone a bunch younger who could outscore him to keep a spot for him. Not sure he always starts at center over Dowd, but against a big team, his size in front of the net could help out.

As far as low-cap-hit wings who hit a little, and score a couple points, Crouse>Ritchie>Hathaway>>Brouwer>Upshall, right now. Many other options are out there. If there's cap space at the last minute, signing Brouwer or Upshall for cheap could add a little more grit down the right wing. Or bringing up O'Brien as an injury replacement at some point could work.

I wouldn't trade Gudas for Doughty. And apparently LA wouldn't either. I didn't really need to check, but I thought it might help to talk it out. smile

Also not available: Josh Brook for Lucas Johansen, apparently? Odd. I wouldn't worry too much, though. Djoos or Johansen should be able to cover top four spots on either side reliably within one and three years, respectively. Lewington could keep improving. There's a bunch of guys on the way up who seem pretty good.
