The way I think of this trade is ....

ANA gets 2- usable D-men on a team that needs RHD help in Ruhwedel (who is very under rated IMO) and is a solid 3rd pairing guy and a perfect #7.
And yah, yah Johnson's cap does suck but PIT lessens the blow by 500K and he did play solid for stretches when he got moved back to LHD side.
Plus a 2nd Rd pick in 21'

PIT gets stuck with paying a salary of $6.675m over 3 yrs for nothing in Kesler to get rid of Johnson's Cap Hit but also get a solid young Dman in
LHD- Larsson who plays with a tough edge but can still move the puck and skates good.

IDK- IMO I think this is fair??

Are Ducks paying Kesler's salary? Isn't insurance ? The trade is Johnsson at 2.75m and second. (the two others might cancel) Ducks would have to think JJ is NHL effective for four more years to even think of making the deal, or else it's waste of 2.75 per year .

No im almost positive that the Ducks still have to pay his salary? But thats the way im looking at this trade.. is that the Pens would be giving almost $21m to get rid of Johnson and picking up $500k on cap hit... IDK just a thought?

This trade totally ignores the beneficial effect of Kesler's LTIR status, which is that it enables the Penguins to re-sign Alex Galchenyuk (or, less likely, Justin Schultz) next year in addition to Murray, Kahun, McCann, Simon, Pettersson and Riikola. Where's the value of Alex Galchenyuk on Anaheim's side of the ledger?

Ok , I get what ur saying now... like they need something else for taking a LTIR guy when they get stuck with a 2.75 cap hit?
I was just doing the trade strictly on the more money paid to Kesler in salary
