Description
1. The Rangers are competitive throughout the year, but are shy of the playoffs.
2. They trade CK20 to a fringe playoff team for a 1st (likely in the late teens to early 20s), tanking the team to around the 8th-11th pick.
3. The pick they got in the Kreider trade is flipped along with Georgiev to a team like Edmonton to move up to around 11-14th pick.
4. They draft two forwards (if they manage to get Stranges I may combust on the spot because his skating is McJesus level)
5. They sign K'Andre Miller to his ELC
6. They go to war with a bunch of kids

I'd rather not go into another season with a bunch of freshmen up front again, especially since we really should be in playoff contention by next year. We will have the space to keep Kreider and there's no reason we shouldn't, unless it's a deal that truly can't be denied

you can do what the yankees did.. trade your deadline rental then resign him in the offseason.. get as many potential top assets as possible.. and it's a mistake to trade Georgiev.. Shesterkin, as great of a prospect as he his, has never really played more than 50 games a season. A tandem of the two of them will probably be the best thing for the rangers.. huska didn't look bad this preseason but has had issues in the past.. if he gets over those this year that'll make the blow a bit easier but i'd have to see it to believe it. I think georgiev is ready for a 50/50 split with hank right now the way he has played.. he's given up goals this preseason, but almost all of them he had no chance on.. hank looks ready to roll too so that's good for us

The Georgie vs Igor situation is going to be tough, but I really see no scenario where we have all three next year, unless Georgie takes a really low contract which he shouldn't. I think Georgie will be eligible to be stolen in the expansion draft if he is on a new contract, too. Two years in the AHL could have Igor running back to Russia. It's a really tricky situation.

My preference is to keep Hank on board until he retires. I don't want a Broduer situation. The only way that happens is with Hank-Igor tandem... assuming Hank signs a 1-2 year deal when his current contract is up

By the way I just wanted to reiterate, too: I completely agree Georgie + Igor is a better tandem... but as a fan, I don't want to do that to Hank. Selfish, sure. But it's a low blow to a guy who wanted to stay here his whole career. I'd really hate to see him run out of town
