Description
This is the roster I think they'll ice on Saturday, if all the IR guys are healthy. There's a possibility Patrick Russell gets into the game too.

I have no idea if Brodziak was placed on LTIR or not, so perhaps there's only $5M in cap space available.

Thats not now LTIR works

"When a player is placed on LTIR, their cap hit remains on the teams cap payroll and it continues to count as it always did. It also does not provide the club with additional cap-space savings that can be banked for future use while the team operates above the salary cap. Instead, LTIR provides relief if the club's averaged club salary, or payroll, begins to exceed the upper limit."

If Larsson and Brodziak you could add 6m in cap space today exceeding the upper limit, but if you wanted to take Larsson off LTIR bc he's no longer injured you have to make roster moves to bring that upper limit back to 0

I'm well aware how LTIR works. SInce Larsson will likely be out for 1/2 the season and Brodziak the entire season, it basically means the Oilers can exceed the upper limit by about $3M today and not have to worry when Larsson comes back.

But I also demoted Cave and swapped Bouchard for Bear, giving myself an additional $850K in cap space.

When I wrote this, it wasn't clear whether Larsson would be back this season or not.

the title of your roster is 6m in cap space....there is no cap space, not sure what you are trying to say here

Being "allowed to exceed the upper limit due to LTIR" and "having cap space" is the same thing for all intents and purposes.
