Description
CBJ (looking to get younger) get the youngest player in the deal in Mete who can already play in a top 4 role below Werenski and probably be paired with Savard. Habs take on a more "stable" 2-way top 4 Dman in Murray. Mete is only 21 years old. Murray is 26, so along with this player swap is Armia, a more "stable" middle 6 forward who can play in all situations, for a more offensive shooter middle 6 guy in Bjorkstrand. MTL gaining a more offensive player here is to balance the age gap between Mete and Murray, but both Armia and Bjorkstrand avg the same amount of ice-time (roughly 15:30mins a game). Habs add a draft pick as an incentive (CBJ are looking to get back some draft picks), with a condition for a better pick if Murray stays healthy.

Let me know what you all think!

Can't see CBJ doing this. Murray and Bjorkstrand while older, are still very young. Bjorkstrand seems to be much better then Armia by now and Murray (if healthy is probably better then Mete

Not even close imo. I would say tatar and a 3rd for Murray, bjorkstrand. Way off right now.

When healthy Murray is a sold #3. Bjorkstrand can take a game over and with a little consistency he could be a solid top 6 forward.

I don't disagree if we are evaluating all these players right now. But the argument for swaping Bjorkstrand over Armia is that that with Mete only being 21, and Murray at 26 (and a UFA in 2 years) Mete holds more value than Murray imo. Let's not forget that Mete has proven to be able to play a top 4 role. In MTL sure he's playing a bit over his head being paired with Weber, but in CBJ, where he'd be insulated with Werenski playing above him, and being paired with a more defensive minded guy like Savard, Mete would thrive. and the pick isn't a throw in either. a 3rd with the possibility of becoming a 2nd still holds solid value considering all the players involved here.

EDIT: oh, and we can stop with the Tatar trades....he's not going anywhere. This was /still is exclusively a capfriendly ACGM thing where MTL moves him. The guy is too consistent and compliments Gallagher and Danault too well. The line was able to shut down the Marner and Tavares line (it's only one game, granted lol but is still a note worthy accomplishment),

Sorry, but no. Columbus will keep Bjorkstrand, who they think can hit his stride and be more consistent this season, and Murray, who when he’s healthy is a good top 4 dman. From a CBJ fan it looks like a pretty big downgrade for only a 3rd. Plus we have Gavrikov who’s played pretty well in limited minutes this season. Mere would have a hard time making our line up. Our d is our biggest strength atm, so why’d have to get more future picks to make this trade or get a better option for more consistent offense.

Again I fully concede that Bjorkstrand holds more value than Armia. But doesn't replacing a 26 year old Murray with a 21 year old Mete make up that difference??? if not, so be it. it's all good. But it's laughable that you think Mete wouldn't even make your D corps.
