Yeah and the Brassard trade was horrible for Pit, I don't see them doing that again. Tierney is worse than brassard was when that deal went down two years ago so he doesn't get a first anyways, most likely a second and a B ish level prospect. The only way they get a first imo is if Jack Johnson is also going the other way.

Jack Johnson, Filip Hallander and a 1st for Tierny, Boro and a 6th.

Fair trade, but has the potential to be massively bad for Pittsburgh if they miss the playoffs next year.

Difference between Tierney and Brassard is that Tierney is still getting better year after year, and Brassard had been declining for years at that point. Tierney is also a better fit as a 3C than Brass was. Brassard needed to play top six to be fully effective, and he was never going to have that chance in Pittsburgh.

Keep in mind that if the Pens want to get a stop gap centre, they are going to be operating from a position of weakness. You also have to consider the fact that there are no better options for Pittsburgh to check all their boxes. What other team can offer an RFA center who can play top 6 AND come in at under 3mil on the cap? I'm not saying I think they'll have to give up a 1st, but I don't think it'll be off the table. Keep in mind that as an RFA, they can definitely recoup assets when all is said and done. So it's really a 1st for Tierney + maybe a 2nd at the draft for his RFA rights.

Also lmao you can absolutely put Jack Johnson going the other way out of your head, because that not happening.
