Description
I'm a Caps fan just looking at the numbers.

I know MIN is in a win now mode with a lot of good players but no real gamebreaker at center. That's a hell of a center depth, great wingers, and a very strong defense. Plus getting rid of a bad contract in Rask. But again, this is only makes sense for MIN if they want to keep going for the Cup.

From the Caps side I'm looking towards the future to try to keep the window open. It may bone their chances this year but might make it worth it in the long run.

I don't know, just messing around.

Considering how Minny's team is built they should do this, I'd probily ask for a pick as well if i'm washington. Kuzy is pretty good, and i know kaprizov has a high ceiling but until he plays and shows he can deliver it is kinda hype vs a first line center.

caps easily say no. Kuzy and Backstrom down the middle, gives them one the most underrated elite center depth in the league. adn as long as ovi is scoring 30 minimum, caps arent gonna move a 27 year old elite center. also, it'll cost way more to acquire kuzy. rask is barely a 3c.

aside from the value of the trade, I think MIN and WSH should have the opposite focuses right now. MIN needs to rebuild badly, they have the 2nd worst GF/GP in the league and the 4th worst GA/GP in the league. Adding one player isnt going to get them anything except worse odds in the 2020 draft lottery. WSH on the other hand is 1.5 seasons removed from being Stanley Cup Champs and still have the same core. Why cut their window short to start retooling with a core who has already won? This trade makes absolutely 0 sense to me.
