The geniuses who keep claiming the Rangers (fan, here) are not in a win-now mode, keep suggesting that Chris Kreider is not part of the future; thus, these trade proposals keep arising. The one thing the Rangers will not take in return for a very capable player, is another Namestnikov to fill in their roster. But proposing that they take two to allow you a shot at a Cup, would and should get Jeff Gorton fired.

To be fair, that offer is extremely lacking. Sobotka's trade value is basically zero, Smith's already 24 and is a bit of a stretch to call him a prospect... And at the moment it seems that the 2nd you're offering is going to be from the lower end, conditional pick or not. NYR will easily decline this.

Sheary+Asplund+1st is much closer to a realistic offer than this.

I like Kreider but not for what you think the return should be . Not when he is a rental. Why should we help Rangers with their rebuild ?

By the same token why should NYR give Kreider in exchange to a pile of crap?
