Description

If this team wants to go anywhere they need to start building depth. Gusev is currently a scratch and gets little TOI, so Gagner (cap dump) and a 3rd and a 4th makes sense, considering NJ gave quite a bit more for a guy who they believed was a premium goal scorer. Benson and Yamamoto are both ready to be called up. Gauthier for Puljujarvi has been a move talked about for quite a few months and Gauthier might be a more productive winger on Mcdavids wing than Kassian. Pageau might have a little bit more value, however his UFA title in Ottawa kind of dwindles his value. Not to mention his offensive production is inconsistent. While Granlund is a good PKer, he lacks offensive production and the play dies every time the puck hits his stick. Archibald simply isn’t good enough skill wise. Manning is lacklustre.

Not currently, however the more arrogant Hynes is, the more likely Gusevs values drops. NJ traded a 2nd and 3rd for Gusev expecting a Panarin and have so far been dropped a Shipachyov. This is just pure speculation that Gusev continues to get limited ice time in the future months.
