OK I'm thinking creatively here but hear me out:
I think I might do this if i were the Hawks........... You turn around and trade Hall for picks and prospects to replenish the ones you lost. Easily could replenish the picks lost moving Hall alone. They'd probably be worse picks than Chicago's but think of the cost to move Seabrook... Its not going to be free. This could be really minimizing the burden.
This is essentially trading Seabrooks contract in exchange for worsening your 1st and 2nd round picks this year.
Example. Trade above is made. Then CHI trades Hall to Colorado for example for their 1st and 2nd rounder this year (maybe even slightly more depending on how Hall is playing etc). or they could use the Stone trade as an template and get Newhook, 2nd rounder and a 4th liner.
Chicago now got rid of Seabrook by dropping in the draft from 1-6th to 15-20th and in the second round from 32-38th to 45-55th.
It absolutely sucks if that pick wins the lottery or even gets the 2nd OV pick but if CHI gets lucky enough to NOT win one of the lottery spots, which is plausible in the draft lottery odds, that is a not so bad deal to get rid of a terrible contract.
This could end up being as follows when all is said and done:
Chicago - 1st 2020 Col, 2nd 2021 Col, B prospect. OR Someone like Newhook, a 2nd rounder and a 4th line plugger.
New Jersey - Seabrook, Lehner (50%), 1st 2020 CHI, 2nd 2021 CHI
Colorado - Hall (50%)
*Also If Lehner likes Chicago enough you tell him you got a new contract waiting for him when the season is over. If he doesn't, no love/lost. He was a UFA anyway.
