My concern is why has he been so bad. Is this a Kovy problem or an LA problem?

kovy has 9 points in 17 games. its a little of both. probably a lack of competitive drive because LA sucks, but also probably a little fueled by the lack of quality of the LA players. Honestly if you move out backes for even money. its still a win.

IDK, Kovy is a notoriously moody player. While the Bruins locker room has great leadership, I don't know that I want that kind of attitude in the locker room.

I kind of feel like Cassidy and the Bruins would be the right fit for that... He's managed to bench Backes (against the Blues in the SCF) and keep Rask in check by splitting his time and we haven't really heard anything bad within the locker room. Also, Chara - Not a lot of guys are going to push the envelope with him around.

If he is officially released, I wouldn't mind taking a chance. You'd know by TDL, so you cut/bury/bench if he is being a tool.

It also takes the right type of personality to be able to handle that kind of treatment from a coach. Backes is a team guy, so he gets it, he's not going to say anything. Rask is competitive and Cassidy knows how to push his buttons. Kovy seems like he has the "take my ball and go home personality"
