I am a Hawks fan. I know that he's an offensive defenseman. He's also back to his level of play from last year. Admittedly, there was a dip earlier in the year, but it's been widely reported that it was a systematic change that affected the Hawks play as a team and not any individualistic effort or lack thereof. What that means is that his value isn't quite what it was last year. That dip happened, but if he continues to play the way he has the last few games he can be a difference maker for a playoff caliber team.

There are a couple of things that definitely go in his favor. Literally every team in the NHL can afford his cap hit. So teams like Vegas or TOR or BOS or AZ can easily take his cap. This matters because not every team can take on a Mike Green even at 50% retained. Theoretically this should help drive up his TDL price tag.

I'd tend to agree with you that a 2nd and prospect is about right. "prospect" is pretty vague though. A 2nd and an A prospect or 1st and B prospect. If his play decreases then we need to look at recent TDL history to see that many 7th dmen went for 3rd rounders...so a 2nd might be right and an AHL player.
