Dear god! Detroit passes. Chiasson is a very good but Detroit is trying to move out 30+ year olds not bring them in.

I don't understand the fascination with JP. He is going to be a decent player in the NHL but will probably never be a needle mover and will never live up to the expectations of his draft position. The league is too fast for him mentally, JP is at a best a 2nd line winger, probably better suited as the 3rd line skill guy. I would not give up Rasmussen for him, and I definitely don't want Chiasson back.

Chiasson is irrelevant in this trade, he's basically just a cap dump to make the salary more even.

JP was rushed into the NHL before he was ready, it's not an easy league for a 19 year old. I don't think he'll become some superstar but think he can be a good player, about the same value as Rasmussen but he offers Wings a different dimension of a RH sniper they desperately need.
