Probably a 3rd round pick since he'd play backup on almost any playoff team

Goalie trades are difficult to evaluate. You can't just take the Keith Kinkaid for a 5th rounder and apply that to everyone. On the one hand...if you have a starting goalie then yeah...a 3rd is probably about right. The acquiring team is only looking for a backup and thus wouldn't trade a whole lot. But go ask STL fans how important a goalie is. Years of Elliot/Allen/failure and then Binnington comes in and they win it all. Dallas and Philly fans can attest to similar stories.

So a team like CAR who 100% does NOT have 1 starting goalie, but are still considered contenders should take that TOR 1st round pick and go get the best possible goalie they can. Whether they can work something with NYR for Henrik or if they can work something for Crow or even Lehner...some how some way they need to fix their issue between the pipes. There's no guarantee that they'll win the cup, but it's pretty much a guarantee other teams will be trading a 1st rounder to improve the playoff roster. CAR will likely need to follow suit if they want to stay contenders.

Retain 3 Million, give us a pick, and Montreal will take him off your hands. He would make a great backup. SC experience would be perfect here, Kinkaid has been awful

because 3 Million dollars is still a lot of money for a backup goalie. I'm sure a ****ty team would take him off your hands though. His leadership would be super crucial for an up and coming team.
