I bet Barzal gets a lot more money than that. I think he's at the very least equal to Marner but being a centre he's probably more valuable. I bet he's going to get over 10 million even if its just a bridge. He's going to get paid.

You think barzal is going to get 10 mill on a bridge for 2-3 years? That’s highly unlikely.

It will most likely be long term. It will either be 10 x 6, 10.5 x 7, or 11 x 8.

Well at this point, he isn't signing until the end of the season and likely not until the new cap numbers come in. We'll see how well Lou handles a young core piece needing his first contract after an ELC. I'd be a little worried that all the rhetoric of him being such a good negotiator is going to spur him to be way too hard line. But who knows.

I'd hope for a long term deal if I were an Islanders fan. Those bridge deals signed last summer are so risky. If a player succeeds, his next deal is going to be insane, if he doesn't the QO is so high that for them it doesn't matter. A 2 year bridge for Barzal would come with a QO above 8.5 and likely higher than 9. Then his next deal will be massive. The Islanders are going to have some very difficult contract issues down the road.

You don’t know that. Barzals agent and LL have already met to discuss a contract and LL said that Barzals contract will be long term, so there will be no bridge deal.

LL already gave Anthony beauvillier ( a core player) a 2 year bridge deal after his ELC, so there’s that.

Every good team will have contract issues. Luckily the islanders will have Noah Dobson and Oliver wahlstrom contributing at a high level on their ELC.

And they also have a lot of guys in their late 20's with years of term still. I see a lot of potential problems coming there way. You aren't going to get these young players who will be taking over your team all signed to below market value contracts. Which is going to be tough to fit in when you have so many 4.5-7 million dollar players on your roster already.
