I would be open to trading Mikheyev instead of giving him a raise. I think the 3rd line wing spot can be filled internally without seeing a drop off.
If Sandin and Liljegren really are both ready to step in I can see them moving Dermott. I just can't see a D core with 2 rookies, Dermot and Holl. I'm opposed to re-signing either Barrie or Muzzin. Muzzin is their best defender, but is slowing down and cost/term won't be worth it. I'm pretty sure Barrie is already set on moving on to the highest bidder and that won't be the Leafs. Everyone should pump the brakes on Pietrangelo, no way the Leafs can give him the money he'll get elsewhere and do we really want to dump another $8m a year into one player? A package of Dermott/Mikheyev could catch a nice return (top 4 D with some term). If the like Dermott/Mikheyev keep them. People will say this D core is terrible, but they all can skate and move the puck, which is what Dubas/Keefe are looking for. The price should be low for DeSmith next summer since he'll have to clear waivers again a the start of the year and Penguins would lose him for nothing.
