Martinez wouldn't be someone I would want to acquire, Either we give up futures for a guy we will have for 20 games, or we end up resigning a 32 YO to a longer term contract.
he'd only get a 3rd and Hudon at best
i'm ok with that but no higher .
we got a lot of prospects and no ECHL team
until Primeau came up there was Lindgren and Mcniven splitting games with him .
moving a Hudon , Vedejmo , juulsen or even a Allain helps reduce the size of the purge in the summer.
with all the picks we've had extra each year from 2017 to now have been piling up and with players leap frogging
ahead of projected timeline's its put MTL in an interesting spot both Contract wise but most importantly development wise with only 1 AHL team and no ECHL affiliate until 2022 at the earliest .(thats when Trois-Rivere's is expected to have their first season as per President of the ECHL.)
we need to move some of these guys anyways and we have a cluster of mid round picks so why not .
Romanov and Harris will be here soon but both have an adjustment period.
Romanov's great and i love him but he's a #4-5 D in the KHL and will likely need to ease in a #6-7 role
Martinez is ideal to help Fleury and Romanov giving them a veteran who can step in and play both LD and RD helping manage their minutes and keep them freash.
if we had to give up a 2nd and a prospect we plan on using i wouldnt but Hudons done
