Ottawa declines. Honka isn't an NHL player and Mascherin hasn't shown he can score consistently at the AHL level, let alone the NHL. Not a chance they give up their top scorer for that

Duclair seems to be a streaky player. I love his speed. He seem to be candidate for a 30 goal but never seems to get there. Signed a 1 year deal with Columbus last season and was the logical choice as a package when acquiring Dzingel. I think at the time Ottawa would never conceive he could bring the club 2nd (likely a little inflated ... more realistically, probably a third)

The Senators being a rebuilding team should milk Duclair’s season and get what ever the market will bear.

Duclair is just too inconsistent for Dallas to rely on for secondary scoring. I think this trade is an overpayment.
