Description
Teams are likely going to be reticent to give up picks in what is, admittedly, a very deep draft, so at the TDL the Sens might be able to get a better return on prospects, rather than trying to squeeze picks out of teams.

Ennis Trade - Sens trade away Swiss-Army Ennis to STL for a forward prospect with upside, but likely projects as a bottom-six forward, or AHL mainstay.

Pageau Trade - This is the one people will **** on, and if you're one of these people you're wrong. JGP is very similar to Brassard when he was traded. Brassard got the team a 1st and Gustavsson. JGP provides scoring depth on an already good team. He brings a playoff pedigree and proven track record for a team that stumbled hard in the playoffs a year ago. Foote is a very good prospect, but he's probably a few years away, and definitely won't help TBL hoist the Cup this year. TBL gets to keep both of their 1sts in this year's draft, they get a proven playoff performer and they lost a strong prospect, but hardly their best one.

Tierney/Hainsey Trade - Avs will be loading up at the deadline, and both these players could help. Tierney would be a good depth forward and help spread the scoring, while also killing penalties well. Hainsey might not play a whole lot down the stretch for the Avs, but he provides depth, experience and leadership for the defence and lets the Avs continue to shelter some of their D prospects that could be up next year. The cost for the Avs are two forward prospects that are hard to grade out and what is likely an AHL-lifer on the blueline. The Sens need some D depth desperately, and Lindholm could help the BSens stabilize the back-end for a playoff run.

Namestnikov Trade - Namestnikov has cooled off since his hot start in Ottawa, but he should still get them more than they gave up to get him. He might net a single asset better than any of these three, but this trade gets the Sens a big, fast winger who is starting to put it together in the ECHL (Safin), a defensive forward with some playmaking skills out of the NCAA (Rasanen) and they take a cap dump in Russell, who makes less than his cap hit next season (aka the Melnyk Special)

Boedker Trade - No one is making a trade for Boedker. I know that. But maybe they will if we keep half his salary? And if all we ask for is an AHL defender who is already in his late 20s? No? Oh well, I guess we'll just run out the clock on this guy....

The problem with this strategy is that it puts you way over the contract limit. It's better to get picks because it staggers when all of your prospects are under contract.

I must be missing something. Two of the eight players coming over are unsigned, so this is 6 for 6.

It looks to me as if you put a lot of research and thought into this, so I'm impressed. Nice effort!
