NJD should jump at this offer. The chemistry between Wahlstrom and Hughes is to exciting to pass up and it has a potential to be an extra 1st round pick (in addition to the guaranteed one)

The inclusion of Andrew Ladd in this deal is necessary to balance the cap hit of Travis Zajac, requiring an additional benefit going to New Jersey. I don't think that you can argue that the total value for Zajac and Ladd to the Devils is more than either Wahlstrom or the first (let's consider them equals). So the Isles are paying the other first-round equivalent plus Koivula plus the conditional second for Palmieri. While I agree that Palmieri would be a great additional player to have, I agree with @joshelkin that this is an overpayment.

Might be worth it to dump Ladd’s contract. Wahlstrom is gonna be good, don’t get me wrong, but we’ll still have. I do think the Devils would have to retain a but though.
