What to do with Kreider ultimately comes down to 2 factors which fans are "out of the know" on: Kreider's hard set number (and term) AND actual returns being offered- specifically NHL readiness of any prospect included in the deal. Between what Kreider means to this team and the fact that the Ranger forward depth is extremely shallow- he is a tough guy to let go unless the money/term he's looking for is outlandish or they or getting a prospect back who is ready to step right into their top 6 ...but is any team really looking to deal someone like that for a rental??
In the end, if they do end up re-signing him I think they get him to bite on a 5 year deal with a palatable cap hit...maybe made a bit more manageable by heavily front loading the deal.
