Hmm, it's close, I'd say. So many moving parts that it's hard to evaluate, but...

1. Nurse > Skjei + Andersson, NYR advantage
2. Benning is worth a 2nd / 3rd round pick, you're mistaken if you think he should be included for cap purposes. So Benning + 3rd is somewhere in the range of Georgiev's value, as long as NYR needs RHD.
3. Buchnevich > Puljujarvi obviously, but JP still has plenty of untapped potential.

Is the advantage for EDM in #3 equal to the NYR advantage in #1? I guess that's the question.

In terms of Nurse > Skjei + Andersson, while the numbers show this I don't believe it to be true. Rangers have by far the worst defensive SYSTEM in the league. Lindy Ruff needs to be fired before they make any additional changes to the D-Core. Skjei looked like a promising #1 defenseman his rookie season, but after that is when Ruff joined the team and his game went to hell (along with other defenseman on the team).

Rangers have Trouba, ADA and Fox for RHD, not to mention Keane who is an AHL allstar in his first season and Lundkvist who is turning heads internationally. Rangers are set on RHD. Regardless, there is no way that Benning gets anywhere close to Georgievs value considering he is a 7th defenseman who is a pending UFA while georgiev is a fringe starter at soon to be 24 that is under team control for another 2-3 seasons.

JP while having potential hasn't proven anything in the NHL-- why trade a proven NHLer for him. He isn't even in the same realm as Buch. You'd maybe get a 2nd rounder for him at most.

This is also before the camp dumps as well... so add on edmonton's end and not a little bit

we don't need RHD help. we need a banging lefty defenseman who plays great defensively. as well as a third liner who can play top 6 minutes and can also play with physicality.

Buch, Georgiev, Skjei, Andersson for Puljujärvi, Nurse

How much do you think Nurse will want next year compared to Skjei 5.2m for the next 5 years cause they are pretty even other then Nurse wanting the farm. I'd say Andersson for Puljujarvi and you definitely can't say Puljujarvi is worth more then Buch so either way you look at this trade its very bad for the Rangers.
