I don’t see Vaak getting moved for anyone with the uncertainty of both Krug unsigned and Chara could retire

Obviously the Bruins are in “Win Now” mode, and in the desperation to stack the odds, a GM will pay more. If you were a GM for a team failing to make the playoffs, and Don Sweeney called about a player, and you know he wants to win now, that player’s value suddenly got higher.

In this above scenario, I think it is an overpayment. However, it is cost the Bruins Vaakanainen to win the Cup it will be done. Don Sweeney and the Bruins are not worried about next season. The are focused on the now.

And that is the difference between a fan and a GM. Fan only thinks now. GM thinks both now and future. And why fans never understand why teams make the moves they do or the ones they don’t.

HUUUUUGE OVERPAY!!! Bruins say no 1000 times

Also krug would take about 6.75 in boston (not over 7 mil)
and Griz and Debrusks deals are slightly higher paying than what you have, even for the bridge deal
