I am an absolute sucker for watching teams reunite with classic significant players. Does this make Washington better? Do they lose good skating in this trade? If Green is easy to beat and Jensen isn't as easy to beat then you just gave up a 2nd to add 5-10 more shots on inconsistent Holtby there.

Watching Green the last few years, he's playing out of position really in DET. He should be a 5/6 guy, can play PP1 (but on WSH would probably QB PP2), and would be one of the 3 on 3 dmen. He's been playing at minimum 3/4 D-line minutes (and many time 1/2 minutes), including difficult defensive assignments, just because of the lack of NHL caliber dmen in DET.

He's a significant upgrade to Jensen (who I got to watch a bunch in DET) from an offense perspective, but not a defensive perspective. From Friedman's comments about WSH's interest in Green, it's they are looking for more offensive dmen help beyond Carlson, so a guy like Green would make sense.

I agree with all of that, except the trade hagelin part. Way to vital on the PK for WSH.
Maybe find a sucker for Paniks $$?
