Description
This is just me spitballing a worst case scenario. I did my best to keep team needs into account and not to overvalue players. Overall I don't think this is terrible. To be clear I do not think the cap will go down and that the panic on cap issues is overblown.

EDIT: It appears have mixed up Valimaki and Kylington in terms of upside. Kylington doesn't fill a need for the Leafs so this trade would need to be re-assessed. Please ignore.
On the Calgary trade, I think the Leafs lose as Kappy is a tantalising player who could break out at any minute. I am assuming that CGY still values Valimaki quite highly which is why I valued the trade as such, but as I said before I think CGY wins this overall. Ryan was the backup for JT awhile ago so I assume the Leafs might be willing to re-visit as a bargain contract in a low cap scenario.

MIN need centres and we need low cost wingers. I know they seem to value Greenway quite highly so I added the 2nd just to make sure. I think this is closer to fair than the CGY trade but that is assuming Greenway is all he is hyped to be.

Chicago could use a LW and Johnsson is a good one signed to term. We need to shed salary so we unite the Nylanders (just to piss off the trade Nylander group) and get a pick to make up the difference (and A, Nylander hasn't lived up to the hype and might even benefit from being a Marlie for awhile). In the case that AN needs AHL time Korshkov or Kossila can come up and Engvall moves into the 3RW spot.

The Petan trade is just to get him icetime. Buy low for EDM and a 7th rounder (maybe a 6th) for the Leafs if it works out. Win-win.

I bridged Dermott and Greenway (looked at MIN AGM's for an idea on his contract) to stay compliant. Gave Mik a 3x3 (I think he will come in more expensive than most posters think around here) and bought low on Gagner (he has had decent underlyings this year). Worth a shot. Spezza is on record saying he doesn't care about money and wants to come back.

Treliving wouldn't part with Valimaki for Stone, doubt he'd trade him for Kapanen.

That was awhile ago. Looking at his usage in AGM's I assumed people had soured on him a touch. If we are moving Kappy we need a Dman back and I doubt Kylington would be that guy so I went a step down.

Chicago says No. Nylander hasn't been the best but still has upside. Also if this trade was to happen it would be a third rather than a second.

Wouldn't Valimaki be a step up from Kylington?

Thought it was the other way around no? I might be mixing up my Flames Dmen.
Either way, Kapanen is really good and I honestly think the Flames win the trade as presented, let alone it being fair.

Johnsson is heads over tails better than Nylander and a position of need. A late 2nd isn't particularly valuable and is more than fair. This kind of trade I've been talking with Chicago fans for awhile and this seems to be approx value. Don't let Nylander's draft position fool you he isn't that great (and might need some more AHL time).
