Description
This idea & the first part is from @KakkoforMauriceRichardAward‘s AGM team.

I propose to you an analysis of your favorite team...

You need to include:

-your favorite team's strength
-its weakness
-how you would try to fix the weakness without affecting too much the strength
-a CBO is allowed (but not mandatory)
-a flat cap
-coaches can be fired

Copy this so that others can see this idea to keep us entertained a bit until real hockey (hopefully) comes back.

Strengths: Our prospect pool / young players are definitely a strength. So much so that somewhat promising palyers like Cole Fonstad and Samuel Houde won’t get signed. Positionally the habs are obviously set in goalie (other than a backup), we have a lot of centres, and quite a few young LHD.

Weakness: The only immediate weakness is backup goalie. Primeau is good, but he could use some more development in Laval, Lindgren is not an NHL goalie, and Demchenko is an unknown commodity. Other than that we could maybe use some top end talent? The habs have some really good players, but no one that is wowing you with their dynamic skill. Hopefully Caufield, Suzuki, KK, & Romanov can help with that in the future. We don’t really have any glaring weaknesses positionally, although wingers and RHD would definitely be easier to fit in. In terms of the current team, the power play can sometimes be an issue, although it wasn’t bad last year when we had a full lineup.

How to Fix the Weaknesses: Sign a backup goalie. The habs need one for this year, although they should only have a one year contract, so that they can make room for Primeau and they don’t contribute to the 21-22 cap crunch. My first option would be to try to get Jake Allen for cheap from a cap-strapped Blues team. Otherwise, I’d just sign the best UFA backup we can sign on a 1 year deal. Other than that mostly just stay the course. Draft some good players and keep with the young core. We could maybe cache in on the many prospects and wealth of picks we have to get a good player, but not much else. The management has been great, and coaching is great. Not much we can do but stay the course and figure out how to deal with all of the Free Agents in 2021.

Personally I’ll place Kovy on the 2nd and Armia on the 3rd line

The rest is perfect and that’s exactly what we need to do, just wait smile Great post 👍

Thanks. Actually I meant for Kovalchuk to be on the 2nd line, I guess I accidentally put Armia above him.

Maybe sign Nate Thompson this summer instead of McKegg

That makes sense. I was just thinking that Uncle Nate might rather go to a team where he’ll play every night. Also Greg McKegg can play the wing, and positional flexibility is good for an extra forward (ie. Nick Cousins).

Evans Thompson will fight for the 4C during training camp, but when Bergevin got asked if he’ll bring Thompson back, he said Evans was ready to do is job. So probably he won’t offer him a contract
