Description
One of the deepest teams in the league.

Forwards:
1st line is great
2nd line is amazing (one of the top lines in all of hockey before #59 went down)
3rd line is revamped and has no weakness
4th line is the best in the league, will routinely play against other teams top 6.

Defence:

Unit 1 is a top pair in the entire league
Unit 2 is a good well balanced tandem
Unit 3 is good (Riikola has great advanced stats & Cernak is a beast)

In the crease is our only question mark in if Jarry can become a full time starter. DeSmith is a more than capable backup on a GREAT contract.

Only dicey part of this squad is next years cap situation with only 4M to sign ZAR/Teddy/Marino. (Assuming no cap raise this year or next.)

^^^^^ Also to be noted, I didn't want to undervalue any of the guys I **resigned** ie Brown, Jarry, McCann, & Simon. I could realistically see all of these guys costing less $. As for Cernak, if there is no CBO there is 0% chance TB can afford him if he takes this O/S.

Indeed, OTT is basically giving their (and one of the best) defensive forward along with two picks for an inconsistent G, overpaid F, a pylon and a 4th liner.

I think it's a perfectly fair trade tbh. Murray is their #1 goalie for the foreseeable future with some of the best playoff #'s in the league since he's entered. They also get Bjugstad, who will more than likely be flipped for a 3rd or 4th come TDL time. ERod is a nice depth piece for them because they need to ice a roster of NHL caliber players. Johnson is a vet presence on the blue line and will most likely be gone to Seattle. + PIT 4th.

So essentially:

Murray
Bjugstad (3rd or 4th)
Johnson
ERod
4th

For Brown 2nd + 3rd.

JJ has basically no value & Bjugstad is worth a 7th at this point. This package might get you Brown alone but definitely not with the picks.

Ottawa has plenty of young goalies in the system and their starter (Nilsson) had a better year than Murray did last year. Brown is better and probably has greater trade value than any of the players coming back to Ottawa, two of which (Johnson and bjugstad) have negative trade value.
