Description

-Ideally, the Sharks can get rid of Jones with a CBO.

-With this offseason, SJ can bring in some great forward depth (all good skaters)

-Sharks keep their draft picks and can start rebuilding with three choices in the first 62 picks.

-Could opt to not bring back Kellman, though I think he performed well for a low-ceiling player. Resigned Letunov but I don't see a future for him. Soumela is out. Gambrell often gets traded on this site but who wants him?

-Instead of paying a premium for a goalie, add Khudobin who should be reliable and pick up two free agents in Legace and Grosnick who put up good AHL numbers last year -- they can't be worse than Jones/Dell right?

-Craig Smith might not be a good idea given his age, but he can score, skate and play two-way hockey (all of which the Sharks need more of) so if the goal is to win now, he's the kind of guy they should sign. I'd prefer him at $5 mil/year than Toffoli/Dadonov at $7 mil/year-plus.

-What are your thoughts on the dollar amount for these UFA? Think my projections are close to what they would sign for?

-weak G tandem.
-CBO Vlasic, sign on of Khudobin or Greiss and keep Jones
-overpay on Ennis, should cost 2 mil or slightly less
-overpay on Smith, should only cost 4 mil or around that

Thanks for the input. I agree that Khudobin and one of the AHL vets is a weak tandem, but if they are one of the worst in the league... then that's just as bad as the last two years anyway.

I know Ennis is 30, but he was on pace for almost 20 goals. Would he really sign for only $2 mil? And Smith was already making more than $4 mil, I'm sure he gets a raise.
