Description
Petro deal comes in light of Army's comments this week about both sides wanting him to stay and retire in STL and them just waiting on the cap to be set. Capt sacrifices AAV for term and
gets to raise his family in STL. Left 1.7 mil of cap space so there's plenty of wiggle room.

BUF gets: A good 3C who can take the d-zone draws for Cozens/whoever is their 2C and Eichel. Also, a good bottom 6 winger. All this for an expiring contract.

SJ gets: Goalie upgrade, Allen is top 5 in GAA and SV% this year. Run him with Jones or CBO Jones. They also get another versatile guy who plays a good two way game and is a viable candidate to play better in SJ with their forwards than the ones in BUF. Worst case scenario: SJ tanks and can flip both for picks and prospects at the deadline and deal could be 2 2nds and a 3rd for Labanc, probably more.

    That eats too much of our cap space this summer. Not a bad deal though. Only works if we can CBO Jones.

    I think it's more about fit. I figure SJ is teetering between tanking and trying to compete, I feel like this trade, as explained in the bio, gives them a chance to do both. There's also good free agent wingers on the market.
