PIT laughs and laughs and laughs. You think a top 5 center in the league with a young top pairing dman and a salary dump would get you back a 2nd line center, a 4th liner, and a 2nd pairing dman? As a Caps fan I hope this happens, but no way in hell would it ever.

Last year at 30 year old Malkin wasn't top 5 in the NHL. People also wait 2 years to long to realize when a player is in decline.

First of all, last year Malkin was 29 and second, just because a player doesnt finish in the top 5 in the NHL every single season they play doesnt mean they arent a top 5 player. Ovechkin, Tavares, Toews, or Stamkos finished lower than 5th in the NHL but PLENTY would argue they are top 5 players. Cant base a players overall skill level on 1 season. Finally, players dont decline when they are 29-30. Dont be dumb.

It's not just points but yes his points and advanced stats all dropped 5vs5 in fact he was a dead equal for Little on almost even 5vs5 stats.
