We will likely only get a 3rd for Read and a bag of pucks for Streit but I bet Streit won't even get moved since he will be gone at years end. But hey if someone wants him and he agrees then they can have him.

Can't imagine the Canucks wanting to give up anything for Read. They might as well sign UFA Hudler for free.

Streit is exactly the guy that gets moved at the deadline because he has only this season left on his deal. That's perfect for a cup contender looking for a spark on the PP unit. He can handle 3rd pairing minutes if they're worried about his legs, but he's in much better shape than Timonen was and that deal fetched two 2nd rounders, the latter being a conditional that could've been at worst a 4th. As for Read, I'm expecting a comeback year since he won't be saddled with RJ Umberger on his line and was supposedly playing hurt much of last season. Hudler probably nets more term and money, and is an offensively sheltered player with 55% and 60% offensive zone starts at Calgary and Detroit. Florida had him 50/50 and didn't resign him. Read is a two way player that handles PK minutes as well and starts mostly in the D zone at about 55% for his career. Not a good comparison. As far as return, I'm assuming Hexy is continuing to prioritize picks while opening up more salary. Remember, Ghost needs to be extended next off-season and our goalies are both UFA. Thanks for the comments.

Personally I think it's time to start building the roster with proven players since we have a fair amount of good young talent in the system. I also think we need to try and get Vegas to take Voracek in the Expansion draft. That contract is horrible and nobody will likely take it on.

Even if you are right, that means selling Low on Voracek right now. IMHO, there's no pressure to do that right now. Continue to give him generous PP time and see if he can improve on his 1 PP goal last year and stunningly snake-bitten 5.2% shooting percentage.
