Description
The Rangers deal got pretty good feedback from STL and NYR fans. We move Allen to WSH where he can be a 1B to Samsonov and allow them to bring him along while still competing. I hate the idea of sending someone a 1st to get rid of one year of Steen, this way he gets to stay around instead of being bought out. Petro signs a $68 Mil deal, which another team would have to offer 9.7< to match. Dunn’s deal is according to his minutes played and doesn’t take any of his UFA years. Yes he could be offersheeted, but this team is probably going to be his best chance of winning. Next year, we throw Seattle some picks/prospects to take Faulk + Steen retires giving us over 12 mil in space to sign our RFAs and Schwartz.

I’d love to be able to draft Ryan O’Rourke but I’m not sure he’ll fall to us. Ideally we’d get a good RHD prospect but I think we ought to draft the best player available to restock our prospect pool. The Andersson move also helps with that. I think him and Kostin are a bit slow developing but could become good NHLers. Alexandorov has looked good and obviously Perunovich is the gem of the system after a huge year. Don’t sleep on Tyler Tucker or Washkurak. Wash has something of a Brendan Gallagher trait to him. Now there’s almost a zero percent chance he develops into Gallagher, but I rate him highly.

Washington accepts the Allen for a 3rd.

Note that that pick is already a conditional, so you might end up with Washington's 2021 3rd. You could maybe make it if the Arizona 2020 3rd goes to SJ, then you get Was 2021 3rd and Was 2020 5th. But the Caps would have to win the 2020 Cup for you to NOT get the Ari 2020 3rd...

Unless St Louis is taking back Staal or Smith, Rangers pass, quite quickly. They don't have 5 mil of cap space to pay for a guy who couldn't even put up 30 pts this season

I see a scenario where the Leafs would take Bozak if Kerfoot is used in a trade to upgrade the d. Would leave a gap at 3C that needs to be filled. STL would have to find a third party that can retain 50% of Bozak's salary, but as a RH/good faceoff/veteran with Cup experience he would be a fit.

That Dunn contract would be a team friendly short deal. Would assume he comes in north of $3.5m even on a bridge but have seen models that have him just south of $5m. Real tough scenario for Blues to sign Pietro and keep Dunn, or sign Dunn and keep Pietro.
