The returns are fantastic though. Bennett gives a bit of an edge and Kappy plays well with someone like that on his line. As we've seen with him playing with Clifford. He's also fast enough to play on a line with Kap and Robertson, so I like that deal. Jankowski is a solid 4C. Would love him on this team.

You have to pay a lot for a high quality D-man in Manson. Two legitimate prospects, a roster player and a 1st seems pretty reasonable in my opinion. Manson's contract is such a bargain. Plus the Leafs literally need a contract like Kesler's to be able to go over the salary cap again this year... I think those trades are pretty realistic.

The d-core looks way better with Manson on it though amirite

Returns aren't bad but what the Leafs are giving for them is terrible value-wise. I wouldn't give just Liljegren for Manson and Kesler and while getting an LTIR player helps the Leafs, teams that cannot afford to be spending money on players not playing pay to have them taken. For example, when the Leafs traded Sparks to Vegas for Clarkson and acquired a better return than just trading Sparks. I also wouldn't trade Dermott and Kerfoot for Bennet and Jankowski straight up nevermind adding. Dermotts the best player in the deal and I'd rather have Spezza at 4C for 700k over Jank

Bennett and Jankowski both had atrocious years. There trade values are at an all time low. It would be incredibly stupid to offer that much for both of them.
