Seabrook to DET

For anyone wondering, the trades to Vegas are both notes applying to the DET trade.

Unless you would like to think that CHI trades a piece of paper with those exact words written on it to Vegas.

I don't think you need the explanation the way you have it set up is very clear. I don't know if you are taking DeKeyser to help off set some of Seabrook's contract but he is very well liked among fans and the organization. I don't see Detroit moving him at all he is their most dependable defenseman. Detroit has 11 players signed for next season and with Mantha, Bertuzzi and Fabbri that they must resign. They have to sign a LD because DeKeyser and Nemeth are the only 2 defensemen on the left side maybe Cholowski figures it out this season and McIsaac isn't even near ready. They need someone to back up Bernier. With Neilson and Abdelkader on un movable contracts. I really don't see Detroit being able to afford Seabrook's contract.

Yeah Detroit declines, Danny DeKeyser has a better contract. Seabrooks is atrocious.

So you take Dekeyser and we take Seabrook. Dekeyser has 2 years left at 5 million where Seabrook has 4 years at 6.88 million.

This deal is bad for the Wings in 3 ways:

One we are taking on over 13 million in cap hit for the remaining 2 years not covered by Hawks acquisition of Dekeyser. That means we have to allot the money to LTIR before the start of the season, which limits what we can do in free agency.

Two if we want to but out Seabrook the penalty is twice the remaining years of the existing deal or 8 years he is on our books compared to Dekeyser which would only be 4 years.

Finally, the market is set. A 1st for a an expiring deal, see Marleau and Backes, and you want us to eat more cap and for longer for a prospect and a pick, which is not a 1st. No Deal.

Lately on Cap Freindly with reports that the cap will remain the same for next 2 years and only inch up in the 3rd year, people have posted their cap dump to the Wings for nothing. Eriksson from Vancouver for a 3rd and 4th, Lucic for 2nd and a 3rd. To dump cap it will cost and now more than ever it will really cost because the cap is not going up, so please stop.posting cap dump to Wings for nothing.
