Description
Start out with...again...don't know if the Hawks will be winners or loser in 2021 so there might be more picks, but I'm going to assume for a moment that they don't sell.

The Hawks drafted Quinn in 2020 in preparation for Saad leaving. YES, they're completely different styles of players, but they're both RW and you really can't have too many deadly shots.

There's $7M left over, BUT this is also missleading. Boqvist, Dach, and Strome again will need extensions. I could see Stan signing a 1 year deal to a player that really just wants a 1 year bounce back deal. This would make the team more competitive and they have the cap space. Who that is....IDK. You pick it.

Not really a trade at all...just showing that the Hawks bought out Maatta in a previous year so adjusting the cap to reflect this

    Additional Details:
Had a tough call here, but DeHaan really is their best option...IF he's healthy. I can see Carlsson or Koekkoek being an option if DeHaan gets hurt again, BUT that also means if DeHaan gets hurt that's 3 years in a row for a shoulder injury...he'll be LTIR I believe for this upcoming season. So...for cap space purposes it's fitting to keep him in this trade.

Interesting to see if Brodin hits the market now that you can't trade him with conditions on him resigning. Now for MIN to trade him for max value they have to do a sign and trade.

Signing Brodin, who will be 28 at this time, for 7 years putting him at 35 when his contract is done for $7M...ouch. If he's $7M, then it's a 5 year deal IMO or we should pass.

The cap the following year, when Dach and Boqvist need contracts, will go up with the seattle revenues, likely pretty significantly ($3Mish) which is great.

Strome should be locked on bridge for 3 years this offseason if we keep him.

There is room for Saad at $4.5M for 5 years. Quinn isn't going to replace him IMO as Quinn is not known for defense or 2 way play which means we lose one of our best 2 way guys and PK guy in Saad.

That second line will get ripped apart defensively. IMO it would be smart to keep saad to play with Cat and Strome. There is room for him in this lineup for him, and he would go a long way in making us more competitive (we better be eigther rebuilding or competitive in 2 years... enough of this in-between stuff). Not a fan of that Brodin contract eigther. Two years from now there needs to be a spot for Beaudan to see what we have in him. Eigther he replaces Carlson or we don't sign Brodin

Your expectation is that 100% of our core D prospects will pan out. I personally think that's a wish vs realistic. I can hear you on Brodin's term, but he's in his prime. Id rather give the two years vs a higher cap for 5 years. As for the prospects needing room...Keith will be getting off the books when those guys need deals then Seabs the year after...if hes not LTIR already. We need SOME continued veteran presence. I think he can provide that. Is it a Campbell contract...kinda, but its a little less with a far better overall cap situation like than back then.

Fair enough on the 2nd line. Its two years away. There are options with the cap space available.

I think we'll still need some veteran leadership once Keith/seabs are gone. No I don't think a 25 year old Ian Mitchell counts as veteran leadership. Id rather pay the term vs the larger cap hit (I think) would be required for a 5 year deal.

Saad is a great 2-way player. Not our best or 2nd or arguably even our 3rd best PK guy though.

For Strome to LOCK into a 3 year deal...it likely won't be a friendly deal. A lot more cap comes off the books next year. I think there's mutual interest in a 1 year prove it deal.
