Description
I feel very strongly that you will get a minimum of 5, if not 7 years of excellent play from Pietrangelo. Sure he's older than Hall, but has been far more durable. It's not often a RHD like Petro becomes available, it's certainly steep, but better than the Doughty and EK deals.

Next offseason is where the difficult decisions begin. Valimaki and Rittich need extensions. I'd think you go short-term with Valimaki. Rittich, you only extend if he has a big season, if not let him walk and let Talbot be the guy, Zagidulin could be the backup in that scenario.

Additional Details:
I would estimate Bennett's value to be either a 2nd or 3rd.

Either way I would imagine he's reaching the end of his Flames tenure. It's just not going to happen for him in CGY and I hope he does well elsewhere.

  1. Fischer, Christian [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
I think Kylington will be traded this offseason too. I don't know what his value is. Theoretically, he's an offensive defenceman, but hasn't produced as an NHLer. It doesn't need to be Fischer, but I'd want a RW that could use a change like Kylington

I have a gut feeling that whoever signs Hall is going to regret it.

Gio - Pietro is an incredible pairing on paper

I have a feeling the Flames will sign him lol.

Where I'm at is, if Hall will take less than 8, sure sign him.

If he won't and the Flames want to spend big money, I'd rather spend it on Pietrangelo. Like I said you get a stud RHD, likely a future captain and not to mention a cup champ.

Under 8 is fine imo but anything over and it's too much. I guess I'm just not a big believer in paying big money to a wing unless it's a Panarin or Kucherov and to me Hall isn't on that level.

On another note, would you be interested in a Donato for Kylington swap? Donato scored 14 goals in 62 games this season averaging 10:38 a night. He can play both wings well, but he can't play center. I don't really want to see us trade him but sadly he's buried in our depth chart with how many wingers we have and a change in scenery where he gets 3rd line minutes should do him a lot of good.

I take it the plan would be to expose Gio in the expansion draft?

Makes sense I guess. Then you build the left side around Hanifin, Valimaki and Mackey.

Yes I think that would be fair. In the limited times I've seen Donato he has looked good to me.

Kylington in 2 consecutive years has been displaced on the depth chart by TDL acquisitions, he won't play in the return to play. Next year Valimaki is healthy and the Flames signed Mackey out of Mankato and they already have him wearing #6, he will likely see some games. Not good for Kylington
