Florida scored alot of goals, but they also let up a lot of goals too. This adds a 2-way player to both their forward group and defensive group

Hawks fans. I know DeHaan and Cags are useful players. We're in a flat cap environment and we're going to have to give up useful players.

I think these are solid trades.

The only thing I really question with this post Is Suter starting on the second line.

Nylander Strome Kane seems to have good chemistry.

I feel like Florida would want to send some salary back, maybe a guy like Connoly or Sceviour.

If you're throwing Chad Krys in with Zack Smith, you probably don't need to add the 4th, especially if the only thing the Hawks are getting is "future considerations/cap space".

There are a few reasons I like these lines. Nylander seems to excel (currently) in a bottom 6 role. To me, thats not a knock at all. It means to me that he's still figuring out the NHL game. I liked his high motor in that bottom 6 role. That used to be his supposed flaw. Give him 1 more year in that role. Develop him slowly.

I like Strome/Debrincat together. Shaw on that line gives more defense and grit.

Suter is a two way player that crashes the net. Most of his goals in the Swiss league were darn close to the goalie. That style of play and defensive responsibility goes well with Dach IMO. Kane will certainly add the flash and scoring to any line.

Who knows what happens the following year...besides another flat cap. Maybe Suter plays well enough that the Hawks are almost forced to trade him...who knows???

Good thoughts. I'd accept both changes if that's how it went down.

Idk why we just don't buyout Smith, instead of trading assets to move his contract.
