Description

This is Part 1 of 2.

Sharks keep those draft picks and sign help in FA instead of trading for it. They stick with the bad contracts, although they get to CBO Martin Jones.

Add a couple of forwards who can play both ways and add a little offensive depth. Goalies added are a temporary stop gap. Fill in whoever for that other goalie spot (Elliot, Howard, etc.)
*I know Khudobin + another old backup goalie isn't a good combo, but it can't be worse than the last two years and it'll be cheaper. I put some future Sharks in LTIR for reference.

These moves should make San Jose a little more competitive than this year while allowing the franchise to rebuild its prospect pool. And if they actually are in contention, they have some cap room to add someone at the deadline.
