Description
The Wild looked good at the end of the season and the rebuild/retool Under Guerin is headed in the right direction. Fiala looked like a legit top 6 player, Parise had a overall good season. On paper their top 4 is good with the likes of Suter, Spurgeon, Brodin and Dumba and personally I wouldn't change that. Kahkonen looked good when he got the call and is Minnesota goaltender of the future. However the top 6 forwards raises some questions. Does Fiala can keep on the same pace as he was at the second half?, does Kaprizov makes a immedate impact? How much Parise, Staal, Koivu (all 35+) can carry this team? Dubynk is now 34 and we saw some decline, will he regress again?
I don't think the Wild should be to agressive on the ufa market as the team is not ready to compete with the best yet. Rumors involving Parise to NYI have been seen, but I don't think the trade will happen. Parise holds a NMC so he can reject any trade. He's from Minnesota he signed there to be close to his friends/family and I don't think that changed. He already played in the New York area + under Lou and I don't think he's interested. If he decides to waive that would be a good thing for the Wild but I don't think this happens.
The Wild still need a top 6 center. Staal is 35, Koivu 38 and Eriksson Ek looks more of a 3rd line player. I would take my chance with Andersson. A player who asked for a trade but he still has a top 6 potential and is still a youg player. I think with a 2nd round the deal could be done. The Wild should look more in the development of Fiala, Kaprizov, Kunin then try to patch with a temporairy solution on the middle the RW.
With their pick I could see the Wild go two ways either draft Lundell to be Koivu replacement since they play the same style of hockey or draft Askarov if they think he's the real deal and the future in goal.

NYR would (should) take that. I don't think he is 2C potential however.

Parise did waive for the Islanders because his dad played there and he like lou. The stagnant cap is the bigger problem on a trade there so Parise stays in Minnesota. I don't see Andersson being better than JEE. I like Jee and think he is just starting to blossom offensively though he will never put up 1c numbers. You can call him a 2c or a 3c he just the guy that will always match up against the other teams top center to shut them down.
