I love those lines, however, you just know that Brindy will draw up the D-lines in this way:

Slavin-Hamilton
Skjei-Vatanen
Gardiner-Edmundson

TBF, Eddy was phenomenal against the Rangers both on the eye test and the analytics (Link: https://twitter.com/domluszczyszyn/status/1292816812162375681/photo/1), but that's super-likely to regress.

Which isnt a horrible decision, if Eddy can keep steady lmao.

Although unfortunate that Fleury doesnt get to play.

Have to agree Edmundson will be in there. tbh. I wouldnt be surprised if Fleury is in there for Gardiner, at least for game 1. We are going to want to slow work Dougie into the game and probably playing him in 5v5 and PP situations only. Since he wont be playing the PK, Rod will want as many PK capable defenders as possible. Gardiner isnt one of them. Once Dougie gets back into the groove and is ready for all situations, you work Gardiner back in.

In some ways, Eddy should get the nod over Fleury, because he dominated against the Rangers (Link: https://twitter.com/domluszczyszyn/status/1292816812162375681/photo/1), but based on the regular season, Fleury and Gardiner were considerably better and should be in his spot.

I get it. We got blasted on the PK last year so, we will want a solid representation of PK capable defenders in case it goes sour again. I dont think it will as we wont be out of gas and hooking them to death to prevent breakaways. In case it does having 2 PKers on the 3rd line will be good to allow Dougie to get back into the game and play more offensively favorable assignments.
