Description
New Jersey really struggles to score goals. A guy like Marner could help them scoring more goals and therefore win more games. Marner is a better player than probably the 7th overall pick will ever be.

The 2nd first round should be top 10 protected

Except this isn't giving him away lol you'd probbly get one of Perfetti/Holtz/Raymond who will most likely become elite players on their own, you also get a 2022 1st rounder, an amazing 3rd line C and a num ber 3 d-man, only extremely biased TML fans could think that this is «GiViNg AwAy MaRnEr»

How is «being the best player» in a trade matter in who won the trade or not?

Everyone (wrongly) considered Subban to be the best player in his MTL-NSH trade yet 4 years later 80% of the hockey world agrees that MTL absolutely fleeced NSH

ARI clearly got the best player in the Hall trade yet if he doesn't resign NJ will have won the trade.

Who wins trades is based on the team that makes the better use of what it received, not who got the best player. That's wayyy too simplistic

The best player in the trade matters when you're talking about value. You have one of the best young wingers in the league who plays well with your top 2Cs and you're gonna trade him along with your 3C and a young dman who could be in the top 4 in a year or two for a 3/4 dman, a 3C, and a couple firsts?
