Description
The more i think about it. I don't know if the Wild will make a big move to get a top 6 Center. The Wild have had some of the worst goaltending in the league however, its defense has done a great job hiding the tire fire. My bet is the Wild want to shake up the goaltending but leave the top 4D untouched for another season. If the season goes well I think they will try to retain Brodin and hope to develop a center or hope that the UFA market improves. If the season starts to go down the drain. This is where we see pieces being sold off.

Trades
MIN
  1. Raanta, Antti
  2. Stepan, Derek
Additional Details:
Cap dump for Arizona, but The wild get a center that they can try out at 2C. Stepan really isn't the best but hopefully he rebounds to 50ish points playing for his hometown team after this season he expires so low risk in my opinion. Arizona also send a goalie that should be an improvement over Dubnyk and Stalock. Raanta has the Finnish connection with Kahk and they can share the net 60%-40%.
ARI
  1. Donato, Ryan
  2. Stalock, Alex
Additional Details:
Wild send a young forward who can provide scoring that the Wild don't have a role for. Donato scored 14 goals while be a healthy scratch some games and the rest being on the 4th line. They also send over a cheap goaltending to back up Kuemper.

don't hate that idea, but I think you could still trade Dubnyk if you retain half of his salary for that one year

I think it's a little light going AZ's way. They have Hill already, so they don't need Stalock, presumably he's just there to shuffle a contract for the Wild. Donato is interesting, but I don't think he's worth all that much. They can probably grab a second and third for Stepan and Raanta respectively. The one big bonus is dumping the cap, but Stepan is their top C and only going to make $2 million real money.
I think the basic idea is pretty sound, though, for both parties.

I actually like this a lot. Would rather pick up someone would help accelerate the offense but like you said...probably nobody available on the trade market for us to do that. This helps out Arizona in the pursuit of Hall this summer and/or other FA's to help them take the next step. Both are kind of stop gaps for us but I think they're necessary and we have the cap space to do it.

Once again, I think this is a last resort but a decent option to at least remain competitive for another year while our youth develop.

Yeah I debated taking off Stalock and throwing in a pick instead. I like Raanta more in this deal than Stepan, but I figured Arizona enjoys having a lot of cap coming off the books. I debated Greenway or Foligno, but i can't bring myself to trading those unless something more than two rentals were coming back or the Wild were sending a short cap dump back. Mostly because if Foligno has another good year we can see the Wild getting a 2 or 3 round pick at the deadline. Greenway I think is still a valuable trade chip for teams looking for cheap young grit.

As small as AZ is, I think they'd love Greenway. If you could convince them to take Rask's salary, I feel like Stepan and Raanta for Greenway, Donato (maybe they do want Stalock to compete with Hill for the backup slot?) would be good for both sides. There's a deal to be made somewhere in there, imo. It's just balancing the details (and I don't know what that looks like). But like I said, I think it's a solid foundation for a deal.
